Fudoshin Gasshuku 2002
Venue
Fudoshin Gasshuku 2002 was held on the weekend of 13th, 14th & 15th September (Friday to Sunday), at Pitton Cross Campsite, Pitton on the Gower.
Itinerary
The weekend went well. The only issues being a student who suffered a flat tyre on the journey down, and another student whose camper (Colin) had to be recovered from the beach carpark after beach training on Saturday, due to the brakes falling apart!
After everyone's safe arrival at the camp on Friday evening, it was early to bed (well earlyish), ready for the first day's training
Friday
18:00 onwards Meet at campsite, set-up
20:00 Evening meal
20:30 Evening walk to beach
Saturday, up for 06:00 (yes and we know what the 0 stands for now), ready for the jog to the beach followed by a swim in the sea (very refreshing).Enpi was the chosen kata for the weekend. During the first session, Sensei took the students through the kata for the first time. Once everyone had been through the kata, Sensei explained some of the bunkai, which was followed by the students practicing the bunkai from Enpi against simulated attacks.
Later in the afternoon beach training was the order of the day. The beach session covered Ippon Kimite, Kata Embusen and sea training.
Phew! end of day one. After a wash and brush up, it was a barbecue and team games, before lights out

Sunday, up for 07:00 (an extra hours sleep) again a jog to the beach followed by a swim (even more refreshing today).
Following breakfast, Sensei continued his instruction of Enpi, followed by a final session covering Bo staff.
Once the last training session was over, Sensei conducted a group walk, taking in some of the local, breathtaking scenary. The walk brought everyone back to camp in time for dinner.
